General-purpose software companies such as HubSpot drew 14% in the CRM answers and 1% in the EHR answers.

Each address counted once per answer. Companies selling to the niche: EHR and practice software or services in one study, real estate CRMs and agent tools in the other. We checked who runs each of the other sites on the site itself. General-purpose software: companies such as HubSpot, Pipedrive, Salesforce and Zapier that sell to any business. The kind of each site is our classification. Each study lists every linked site with its kind.

About the method
How AI Shortlist studies work
What is AI Shortlist?Studies of who Google’s AI names in one niche.
AI Shortlist is a series of Wonderflow studies of AI search visibility. Each takes one kind of software and the questions its buyers ask, such as “best behavioral health ehr” or “best real estate crm,” and records what Google’s AI answers, which companies it names and which pages it cites.
What have the AI Shortlist studies found so far?The list depends on who asks and where.
On 28 October 2026, in both niches, AI Mode and AI Overviews gave different lists for every question both answered: 19 questions about behavioral health EHRs and 20 about real estate CRMs. The names also changed with the kind of buyer asking. None of the 15 EHRs named for private practice came up for addiction and residential treatment, and for commercial real estate only 3 of the 14 most-named CRMs came up.
What do the AI Shortlist studies show about which pages get cited?Vendors’ lists, even when the vendor isn’t named.
On 28 October 2026, vendors’ own lists were cited in answers that did not name the vendor. DeepCura’s list of the best EHRs for private practice was cited in 24 of 114 Google AI answers about behavioral health EHRs, and DeepCura was named in none. RealScout’s list of the best real estate CRMs was cited in 20 of 118 answers about real estate CRMs, and RealScout was named in 3. The share of links that led to vendors differed by niche: 490 of 666 (74%) in the EHR study and 288 of 868 (33%) in the CRM study. In AI Overviews alone the shares were 68% and 32%.
How are the questions chosen? In buyers’ words, by kind of customer.
For each AI Shortlist study we write about 20 searches in buyers’ words and group them by the kind of buyer: company size, type of practice or specialty, and searches for alternatives to the best-known products. Each study lists all its questions.
Which AI systems do the studies measure?Google AI Mode and AI Overviews so far.
AI Shortlist studies so far measure Google AI Mode and Google AI Overviews, collected for the United States in English. ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini are not measured. Each study says which systems it covers.
Why ask each question three times?AI answers change from one run to the next.
Google’s AI can give different answers to the same question minutes apart. So we ask every question three times on each system. A name counts as stable for a question when it appears in at least two of three runs, and each study says how often the runs returned the same text.
Is AI Shortlist a ranking of software? No. It records what the AI said.
No. AI Shortlist quotes Google’s AI answers and counts the names and links in them. We don’t test or score the software.
Are the companies in the studies Wonderflow clients?None so far. Each study says.
Every AI Shortlist study states whether any company it names is a Wonderflow client. In the two studies published so far, none is.
Why does Wonderflow publish these? We work on search and AI visibility.
Wonderflow sells search and AI visibility work to software companies and may offer it to companies these studies name. That does not change what a study reports, and corrections don’t depend on working with us.
How do I report an error in a study?Write to hello@wonderflow.agency.
Send the link to the study and what is wrong to hello@wonderflow.agency. We reply within five business days. We check what you sent against the saved answer and correct the page if we got it wrong. Corrections are free.
